BOOKS!

So I've decided to add about three books from off my shelves every week ... That should take a while ;-D    Check back weekly!!!  I will mark the new ones so you don't have to look real hard!  Also I have decided to put them in alphabetical order instead of order of importance.

Baking from Scratch:
The Joy of Muffins -  This book was one of my many McKay Book finds.  Those of you who don't live in Tennessee don't know what your missing! - But your husbands are so thankful!!!  If you can imagine a muffin, it is probably in this book.  Not just sweet muffins either - this book has muffins as a meal AND it has many international muffin recipes.  Easily manipulated to work with fresh ground wheat and natural sweeteners.

Bread:
Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day  -  I have used this book a very few times.  I love the
concept  - I just can't seem to get it to work for me.  :-/

The Laurel's Kitchen Bread Book -  This is a great book for beginning breadmakers!

Recipes from the Old Mill - The Whole Wheat Butterhorn recipe alone is worth the price of this book.  But alas, there are sooooo many more wonderful recipes in it.

Breakfasts:
Mollie Katzen's Sunlight Cafe  -  Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm kind of fanatical about books - got waaaay too many of 'em!!  This book by Mollie is educational and yet reading it is like visiting with an old friend.  It deals with the most important meal of the day.  Lots of wonderful goodies and its beauty makes it a great coffee table book too!

Sue Gregg's Breakfast Cookbook  -  I have to say that Sue's books are almost an education in themselves!  I have actually used them in my Health & Nutrition classes with my kids.  Just so much great information about planning breakfast meals, using whole food ingredients, and things you don't expect in a breakfast cookbook.  Can't go wrong for the money!

Healthy Cooking:
Alkalize or Die - Oh I know it sounds ominous, but this is a great book for those wanting to eat in a more alkalizing fashion.  The 80/20 principle is an awesome one to live by - I don't always do it, but this book was great for opening my eyes to more profitable food choices.

Back to Eden Cookbook - This is actually the 1974 edition that I have.  They do make a newer edition if you don't like old things ;-).  This is a vegetarian cookbook - NO meat products in here!  They even have a gluten type meat substitute.  I guess that is all well and good if you are into that sort of thing.  I mostly like this cookbook for the natural healthy recipes in offers in the vegetable and grain arenas.  They also strongly advocate soy products and frankly with me the vote is still out on this one.  Sounds like a blog post in the making!

Whole Foods cooking:
Laurel's Kitchen - A Handbook for Vegetarian Cookery and Nutrition  -  I love this book!  I have used it often over the years - the one in the link looks a lot better than mine ;-)   Now I am NOT vegetarian, but this book is jam packed full of nutritional goodies AND it has lots of recipes to use up your bulk food storage!  I will keep mine forever - looks like it has a pretty high value too!

The New Laurel's Kitchen  -  Yes, I have the new one too!  I couldn't resist seeing what updated goodies it might have - and it's a lot more affordable!!

Sue Gregg's Other Cookbooks - ALL extremely informative and lots of great recipes, too!
                         Soups & Muffins
                         Lunches & Snacks
                         Main Dishes
                        Casseroles - Meals in Minutes
