About Me

I am a homeschooling mother to 5, grandmother to 6, who loves life and ever strives to be a woman after God's own heart.

This blog was actually created some years back when we started an online bulk business.  Unfortunately, the business didn't make it - another small business man bites the dust - but my passion for storing and cooking with bulk food lives on!!  This has been our lifestyle for over 10 years.  My hope for this blog is that it can be a help to those just getting started.  A place where you can ask your questions and get them answered.

I do have 5 and 6 gallon buckets on hand in my kitchen and pantry.  I am in and out of them on a daily basis.  I grind my own wheat, make my own bread, muffins, pancakes, tortillas, what have you.  I also store beans, rice, evaporated cane juice, powdered milk, flour, popcorn, chocolate chips (yes, chocolate chips!), and a variety of grains such as hard white, hard red, soft white, spelt, millet, 7 grain mix, etc.  You kind of get the picture.  Most of these items only need to be bought every three months or so, depending on how often I use them - I have had my 5 gallon container of chocolate chips for over two years. ;D

We have several families that co-op together whenever we start getting low on items.  Yes, I still have to go to the grocery store for fresh fruit and dairy products.  I do garden and can in the summer so that pretty much takes care of the vegetable aspect.  Although I do sometimes stock up on canned items from a bargain store by buying them by the case.

My dream is to one day grow our own fruit, beef, and have a cow for the dairy.  Ahhh, but I am getting ahead of myself!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions that I can address on this blog.  I look forward to hearing from you . . .
